In the past 15+ years, BASTA has grown to being one of the largest housing rights non-profit organizations in Southern California that provides direct legal representation to low-income tenants. We have four full-service offices, 15 attorneys, and boast many published cases where BASTA attorneys changed the law. We pioneered the right to a jury trial for eviction matters, a right now regularly invoked across the entire State by tenants facing potential eviction and homelessness. BASTA is a multi-faceted legal services provider that affirmatively seeks justice through mass action impact litigation, high volume eviction defense, and other affirmative lawsuits. We believe housing is a human right and are a founding member of the County of Los Angeles’ Right to Counsel Coalition as well as a contractor for the StayHousedLA program through our “BASTA Universal!” venture.

 

BASTA seeks several candidates as part of our post-pandemic, large-scale expansion. BASTA attorneys are generally assigned to mass action litigation teams and carry an individual eviction defense caseload too. The ideal candidates should be: highly motivated, able to multi-task, comfortable communicating directly with clients, and ready to work hard. At BASTA, we apply some of the highest standards in the tenants’ rights field of law and compensate accordingly within the practice area, including a generous merit-based bonus program and financial assistance to purchase a home.

Base salary commensurate with experience ranging from $80,000-$120,000. Medical insurance for employees and their children, including dental and vision. 12 days of annual PTO.
