Every 13 seconds in America, there is another tenant in a foreclosure filing. This crisis is now significantly impacting renters and tenants and may be the most serious and overlooked consequence of the foreclosure crisis. In response to this situation, Congress enacted the Protecting Tenants at Foreclosure Act (PTFA) as part of the larger Helping Families Save Their Homes Act in May 2009. The PTFA significantly increases protections for tenants living in foreclosed properties in California. The state allows both judicial and nonjudicial foreclosure. We help stop tenant foreclosure.
